CopperCasts returns for its first episode of the New Year!

Episode 11 welcomes David Marsh, a financial commentator in Europe and the US, and author of highly-acclaimed books such as September - Black Wednesday, Brexit and the Making of Europe, and Europe's Deadlock: How the Crisis Could Be Solved - And Why It Won't Happen.

For more than 20 years, David worked as a reporter for Reuters, Financial Times and others. Currently he serves as Chairman of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF), an independent think tank organisation concerned with central banking, economic policy, and public investment.

CopperCasts are split into two parts. The first is a short (2min) video in which our guest shares with us something they find unusual or inspiring about the digital asset space. The second half is a traditional audio-only podcast, which you can stream at the bottom of this page, or search for it in all the usual places.

For his Show & Tell segment, David points to to the erosion of central banks' role as the key 'payments backbone of the world' owing to the popularity of new digital systems. He also details why partnership ecosystems between central banks and private sector payment technologies are critical to preserve fair competition and drive further efficiency in the payments arena.

In the longer audio-only podcast,  David and Tyler delve deeper into these changes that big tech is driving in central banking, such as the development of central bank digital currencies and their role in promoting financial inclusion.
