Scenarios: Is there a best time to add Bitcoin in a portfolio?

In theory, it’s simple. Buy low, sell high. In reality, this is easier said than done.

In recent weeks, Bitcoin has experienced a period of wide oscillations, slipping from an all-time-high of $64k in mid-April, to below $48k this past weekend.

For some investors, the wild price swings are an intrinsic part of Bitcoin’s allure. Just last week, long-term value investor and chairman of Miller Value Partners, Bill Miller told CNBC, “volatility is the price you pay for performance.” For others, Bitcoin’s frequent peaks and troughs are too much to bear.

The one thing on which all investors can agree, is that volatility begets doubt and FOMO. When prices are in a never ending state of fluctuation, when is the perfect time to buy crypto?

In our latest In-Depth report, we examine Bitcoin’s performance during various periods of the year to evaluate whether historical data can help determine when the best time to rebalance a portfolio might be.
